Another way to buy a hose is simply to buy one with BSP threaded ends (often 3/8in BSPM or 3/8in BSPF) and add your own adaptors, such as these (from top to bottom - BSPM x Euro female, BSPF x Euro female, BSPM x Euro male, BSPF x Euro male):

Euro style air fittings such as XF-Euro Adaptors are the standard use in Europe and the Far East. PCL’s XF-Euro adaptors have a higher flow rate than the UK profile as they have a larger nominal bore - this is the internal diameter of the hole that runs through the length of the coupling or adaptor – this makes it less restrictive and ideal for use with larger air tools such as ¾” or 1” Impact Wrenches, and other high flow applications up to 35 bar / 508 psi.PLE? Most of the hoses I've looked at have either PCL ends or threaded ends, either NPT or BSPT. Most non European tools seem to come with a NPT female threaded body, so I make up my whip hoses by using an appropriate NPTM (male) x barbed air hose connector, a length of air hose, two crimp connectors (which technically require a special crimp tool but in reality can be pressed to fit using a bluntish pair of carpenters nippers) and a barbed air hose x Euro male end. This is a BSPT male x barbed hose connector and a hose crimp with the crimping tool and a hose cutter (sorry, no spare other ends or hose at the moment):

Again, these can be tightened with a pair of nippers. What are Hose Tails?

By using couplings there is technically no limit to how long you can make the hose. As a general rule, it is always better to have a single, longer hose than to have multiple hoses connected together. The more connections present, the more likely it is you will experience pressure drop. Hope this was of some assistance. There are many different types of air fittings but most air tools use one of just a few types of connector. The main things to consider are the fitting type and the thread size. Common fixing types include ¼” BSP, ¼” PCL and 3/8” NPT.

The Standard and XF-Euro profiles do not interchange, for example, an XF-Euro adaptor will not fit into a UK style coupling. A standard adaptor will loosely fit into an XF-Euro Coupling, however this will result in a loss of air flow, so it important you have the correct profile.

How are air hose fittings measured?

Do I stay with the shorter Euro tyoe ends sds my blowers/tyre inflator/sprayer etc all have these or do I swap to the longer PCL type. Hose tails can be connected to couplings to enable fixing to airlines – tail sizes vary to fit different internal airline diameters. Standard adaptors (commonly referred to as PCL’s air fittings) are the standard UK profile, these adaptors are longer than Euro adaptors. A standard adaptor is suitable for applications up to 14 bar / 200 psi, and will connect to PCL’s Airflow, Vertex, Safeflow and Non corrodible couplings – which coupling you decided to choose is down to whether your application is fixed, trailing hose, require a safety coupling or if it is being used in damp environments. BTW don't worry too much about NPT and BSPT - BSPT forms a non-air tight connection with NPT, you make it air tight by wrapping the male threads with a turn of PTFE tape before assembling.

They are all 3/8in (I think), but 1/4in is another common size, especially on smaller tools with limited air consumption Plus the cheapy plastic siding hose also has a female Euro end for tools I already have other end is make and goes into compressor.
