Description

The Escalante 2.5 features Zero Drop™ platforms. This design ensures that the forefoot and heel are equally distanced from the ground, which lowers landing impact and assists with natural foot movement. Outsoles With this all-purpose running shoe, there aren’t many activities you can’t blast through or landscapes you can’t leave in the dust. Who is the Escalante 2.5 Best For? Performance: B+/A- (You're definitely getting what you signed up for. Low riding neutral shoe. Decent responsiveness and good natural transitions. A little difficult to use with faster efforts or anything that requires change of direction.)

Personal: B (Solid fitting shoe with good comfort. Versatility does extend into casual wear. Running is smooth and fun, though my calves can get a little sore. Can't run too fast in them.) Looking at our durometer measurements, the Escalante 3 scored 23.8 HA which is exactly the same as the average of our lab-tested road running shoes. This is what natural feels likeDavid: The Altra Escalante is a minimalist road running shoe that has a very natural feel to it. The shoe uses a 0mm drop platform, meaning there is no difference in height between the heel and the forefoot. The shoe has moderately flexible design to it and a comfortable knit upper. For some this will be a walking shoe/running shoe double and for some it could even be a speed work shoe. On top of its durability, the outsole also has a solid bite on gravel, damp roads, and even light trails. Whether it's for daily running, tempo days, biking, hiking, or even racewalking, the Altra Escalante 3 can handle it all.

We feel like the word "natural" best describes the Altra Escalante 3's performance. It is low to the ground and is not overly soft. There is nothing extra about it. The Escalante 2.5 retains some of the most popular features of previous versions and makes improvements in others. Heel-to-Toe Drop Skechers Persistence - A beginner friendly shoe for daily training, featuring a forefoot H Plate for pop As this Escalante 2.5 review has illustrated, the 2.5 manages to preserve the characteristics that made the original model famous while resolving some of the issues users raised regarding the 2.0. With its Zero Drop™ platforms, Innerflex™ grooved outsoles, and Altra Ego™ midsole, the Escalante 2.5 offers multiple features other brands will find difficult to challenge. These updates will appeal to a broader range of consumers, but did they alienate the Escalante super fans in the process? The results are somewhat mixed. On the downside, the toe box is not as wide, and extra cushioning in the midsole makes the shoe heavier and more narrow.Otherwise, most runners should find the Altra Escalante 2.5 to be a wise choice in footwear. The Verdict The Escalante 2.5 also provides excellent grip and support for gym use and is even ideal for relaxed walks. The 2.0 also faced criticism for its toe box. The 2.5 toe box is wider and slightly taller, providing more room and comfort. At room temperature, we needed a force of 25.7N to blend the shoe. This is 20% less force than it takes to bend a road running shoe on average. If you like a lightweight, minimal shoe that’s built for speed but have always craved a bit of extra cushioning to put a bounce in your step, the Escalante 2.5 may be your game changer. Whether running, racing or training, you’ll enjoy a responsive, nearly barefoot ride with a secret boost of energy return with every footfall. WHY SHOULD YOU CONSIDER THE ALTRA ESCALANTE 2.5

Ran in them yesterday and they were great! A light bouncy return ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Posted by Mandy Mori on Sep 27th 2020

Other complaints about the 2.0 involved its stiff upper. While the 2.5 does not feature an elastic upper, it is softer and more comfortable than the 2.0 upper. I was not a fan of the Escalante 2.0 and my 1.5’s were starting to wear out so I was thrilled to try to 2.5’s and have them feel like the old 1.5’s with some improvements! Escalate 2.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Posted by km Goudeau on Oct 10th 2020 The 2.5 also offers extra cushioning materials to achieve the perfect blend of cushioning and support. I am very impressed by the improvement in upper stability. There was no medial-lateral translation of my foot in the shoe, even when taking tight turns or running on grass. The outsole has almost full-coverage rubber and I had excellent traction, even on wet roads and grass. I have 40 miles on my pair and the outsole looks nearly new. I would expect greater than average durability out of these shoes. When Altra released the 1.5 the majority of changes were positive, it was a better fit and people were generally happy but then all hell broke loose with Version 2 and the original fans were not pleased. People were scrambling to find a 1.5 anywhere on the market. I will point out, that people who were new to altra or even new to the Escalante, didn’t mind the changes and liked the shoe -but I think the update was too drastic and somewhat betrayed those who were og fans of the 1 or 1.5. What’s new

New Balance Tempo: Available in two widths. More of the classic pointy toe box shape which some customers might prefer. 6mm from heel to forefoot so also good for the heel strikers. Here is our review: Despite its name, the Altra Escalante 2.5 is actually the 4th version of this running shoe. As our Altra Escalante 2.5 Review will indicate, the latest version of this comfortable running shoe is an excellent option for runners. DPT/Footwear Science: A (A great job of implementing natural feeling shoe and minimalist footwear for running and beyond) Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt:The best way to carry your phone and goods on the run. No bounce and various sizes for waist. (Also recommend the Naked belt) Again, it’s not that I feel these issues when running, but it’s likely having an effect when moving through my gait. If I use these shoes continuously, in the long term, my biomechanics may become used to the “support,” and my foot’s muscles could weaken. It’s a theory, but I wouldn’t chance it.Only one group of wearers might find the Escalante 2.5 unsatisfactory: those with High arches. The features that make the 2.5 perfect for flat feet work against those with a drastically curved instep. Stability:B (Neutral, zero drop shoe with minimal stability features; nice improvement in upper stability due to overlays) Basically, what sets Escalante 3 apart from other shoes is a heel that is 9.1mm narrower in the upper than the average shoe out there! This might have attributed a lot to the overall stability feel. In Summary if you like light shoes with a versatile but, responsive ride and a low drop then the Escalante 2.5 is worth considering.
