Artistic Pursuits for Homeschooling High School– ARTistic Pursuits High School Level is a two book art appreciation and art skills course for high schoolers. We receive the first ever Evening Standard Classical Music Award for ‘Outstanding Ensemble Performance’. My daughter has loved these books since she was around 2 years old and now 4 it is so lovely to see her trying to consider which instrument is playing. She adored the flutes in the Aquarium. These are such good book for bedtime, but also wonderful for beginning classical music appreciation for children. We visit Japan with Leonard Bernstein and Michael Tilson Thomas, creating the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo with teaching and masterclasses for young musicians from all around the world. What makes this a pleasure, though, is that music is provided for each instrument. Each piece is introduced by informing the student of the composer's inspiration, how the selection progresses and when to notice the instrument being discussed. This gives students an idea of both the individual sounds of the instruments as well as how they all work together. This CD made it delightful! Just having different musical instruments available after you have shared the books together can inspire little ones to have a go at creating their own musical compositions. We record Concerto! with Michael Tilson Thomas – a major TV series made for Channel 4 with Dudley Moore, which wins an Emmy Award. My illustration tools include everything from copperplate pen nibs and French sepia ink to Photoshop. My work revolves around conveying information visually, whether it be in the form of a mobile app or an illustration for a children's book.

LSO Live wins a Grammy Award in the Best Opera category for Verdi’s Falstaff, conducted by Colin Davis.

We win a Royal Philharmonic Society Award and become the first orchestra to receive this award for a second time. We take part in a series of concerts and events across London marking 400 years since Shakespeare’s death and celebrating the enormous contribution of his work to arts and culture. Peter Maxwell Davies’ final work, The Hogboon, a new children’s opera commissioned by the LSO, is premiered posthumously following the composer’s death earlier in the year. Thomas Beecham gives financial assistance to the Orchestra to allow it to continue its own-promoted concert season.
