While Ralph Waldo Emerson’s “Water” might be an obvious choice, the aptly titled poem reveals the often misunderstood nuances of water signs. While people might overlook water signs as simply moody, their underlying emotional reality is complex and powerful. Water signs can access not only heartbreak and sadness at a higher level than others in the zodiac, but also “joy . . . doubleth joy,” as Emerson’s poem suggests. And people shouldn’t underestimate the power water signs have to stand up for both themselves and for others—underneath their brooding exterior, water signs have the capacity to “elegantly destroy” in the face of injustice. Mauermann ML, Sorenson EJ, et al. Uniform demyelination and more severe axonal loss distinguish POEMS syndrome from CIDP. J Neurol Neurosurg Psychiatry. 2012;83(5):480-486. This needed way more shaping and editing. The other poetry collection I read from this author was just as bad, and I can see no learning of the art of poetry, no development. Heather Christle has published a lyric essay collection called The Crying Book , which is perhaps the most water sign book of all time. Her essay “How to Stop Crying,” excerpted from the larger work and published in The Paris Review , starts in the home, reflecting water signs’ private and domestic nature. Like Christle’s other writing about crying, the essay explores the history of tears and the many different emotions they can move us through, including devastation, hopelessness, anger, and even joy. By remarking on the cathartic power of crying, Christle argues that it’s far from pointless or weak—an assertion with which every water sign will agree. While some poems did make sense, but most of them did nothing for me. It felt like we were going in circles as she uses the same topics for every single sign. Second, many of the poems are basically just the same thing written with different words. Obviously, a collection of poems would have the same or similar themes, but you can use the same theme for multiple poems without making them basically the same poem. Even throughout the sections of the different zodiac signs, I see what is essentially the same poem repeated over and over again. Again, this is just a personal preference, but I like collections of poems to have a set that, while sharing a similar theme, are different. Related, but not the same. In addition to their nurturing side, water signs may possess a high level of creativity, enhancing their connection to poetry and literary arts. Get carried away by the tide of these five poems, all of which represent water sign spirit and sentimentality. At the end of the poem, the cyclical nature of the seasons is also touched upon, as it mentions that winter turns to spring, and that summer will come next. This is great for teaching children about how the seasons change into one another. To help your children write their own poems about seasons, here are some tips that you could share with them. The Best Halloween Sayings for Signs – I personally love the ironic and pun-tastic sayings the best. POEMS syndrome is a rare, multisystem paraneoplastic syndrome. POEMS stands for some of the major signs and symptoms associated with the disease. The major criteria for POEMS syndrome include polyneuropathy, monoclonal gammopathy and either osteosclerotic lesion, Castleman disease, or elevated levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in addition to at least one minor criterion listed below. Chronic ataxic neuropathy with ophthalmoplegia (CANOMAD) is an antibody-associated neuropathy that is caused by a certain type of antibody (IgM). The origin of the IgM antibodies is not known. This disease is more common in males than females, and the typical age of onset is during a patient’s 60s. The muscle pain and weakness is often severe but progresses more slowly than POEMS syndrome. Show, don’t tell. Instead of saying ‘it was cold’, explore how it was cold. What did it feel like? Was the air pinching and biting your skin? We hope that you and your children enjoy reading these poems about the seasons, no matter what season it currently is! Whether it’s spring, summer, autumn or winter, poetry is great to read all year round.
