However, Adele Parks takes offense with the idea that the term can be used broadly to describe all literary works written by women about women. Adele contends that women are very complex human beings and any book that aims to explore their lives, loves, and friendships should be treated with some respect.

That includes themes of love, parenting, honesty, and family. People, regardless of the times they lived, struggle with the same problems. For that reason, Adele is certain in the ability of her books to appeal to the sensibilities of readers in a variety of age ranges. During my career, I’ve lived in Italy, Botswana and London. Now I live happily in Surrey with my husband, teenage son and cat. The characters weren't particularly well drawn and it's quite tough to sympathise with any of them, even when they are struggling with aspects of their lives. None of them seem particularly likeable and even when there comes a time where you are perhaps encouraged to sympathise with one character, or take sides after disagreements between them; I simply found that I couldn't be bothered. By that point, I was just too bored with the whole thing. That’s such a hard question! Especially because I know so many authors now and I’m emotionally involved with them if they’re my friend – so it’s virtually impossible to choose just one. That said, I love Kate Atkinson’s novels. I’ve never heard her talk at a festival, but I always buy one of her books the minute it comes out. She’s admirably versatile; she’s written family drama, crime detective series and each one is always brilliant. What’s been your favourite read of 2022 so far? Lucy wanted her happily ever after but now she’s starting to believe that there might be no such thing. As an Ambassador for The Reading Agency’s Six Book challenge, the author is very passionate about reading. She uses her influence and resources to spread her passion for the written word.

Gillian McAllister’s latest book Wrong Time Wrong Place is exceptionally clever. In it, a mother watches her teenage son stab someone in the street. He’s a kind and loving son so she can’t work out why he did it. By the end of that evening he’s in custody, refusing to have a lawyer and she can’t understand her husband and son’s reaction to the stabbing. She goes to bed devastated. The next morning, she wakes up the day before the crime happened, and every day she goes to bed, she moves further away from the crime, but arguably closer to why it happened. It’s fascinating. What book will always stay with you? This is Not a Pity Memoir by Abi Morgan. Abi is a BAFTA and Emmy award-wining screenwriter who’s written things like Suffragette and The Iron Lady. Her husband has a very rare condition, and her memoir is about him being incredibly ill, trying to forge a new life after illness and growing after something monumental happens in your life. It’s a love story more than anything else and it’s incredibly moving. Any recommendations for laugh-out-loud books? Then, there were Rose's friends (Lucy's too), Connie and her husband, Daisy (Rose's sister) and her husband. They supposed Rose to get partner for a date because Rose's life was devoid of passion and romance. When Rose heard her friends advice, she was mad. She was not a desolation woman. She told that she was fine. She didn't need man for escapee. I hope they live happily ever after.

During her career Adele has lived in Italy, Botswana and London. Now she lives happily in Surrey, UK Parks, Adele (27 September 2019). "My son is off to uni and I'm excited, not bereft... So why am I made to feel like a bad mother?". The Telegraph. Archived from the original on 27 September 2019. Connie Green’s life should be perfect. She’s married to gentle, loving Luke, has a good job and really fabulous friends. She thinks she can’t be happier. When Adele isn’t creating fiction, she can be found contributing articles and short stories to magazines and newspapers. She can also be found on radio and television programs where she talks about her books and the issues that matter to her.

Parks has been married twice, divorcing her first husband aged 32. [2] She has an adult son, Conrad. [8] Works [ edit ] Adele Parks comes from Teesside in North-East England. That is where she was born in 1969. As a child of the 70s and 80s, Adele’s life was pretty ordinary. She watched way too much television, and her unhealthy diet left a lot to be desired. Pertama kali baca karya Adele Parks dan sebenarnya cukup penasaran apa sih "Contemporary Romance" itu? Dan setelah berjuang menamatkan membaca, belum nemu apa maksud genre ini. Not having read any of Adele Parks' other novels, I'm not sure if this is just a really poor choice from her books or if this really is as good as she gets. Needless to say, she's not an author I shall be reading anything more of, as I'd much rather read something I'd enjoy. Rose didn't mad to Peter or Lucy. She kept her normal life on. She try not to bother Peter's new family. She perform as a good mum. She never break the rules for her sons, such as time together with their dad, Peter. Rose loved children and good in every housework. She make her own meal, instead of buy from store like Lucy always did.

But Lucy was a pretty wife like a princess. She was a hard worker. She was always busy for her jobs, similarly with Peter. She has no time for Auriol. Then there was Eva, household servant. Although, Lucy loved her daughter so much. Probably Lucy believe that Auriol got her pretty character, including taste of fashion. I would have to say though that the only plot that actually kept me interested long enough to finish the book was Rose and Craig's storyline. It just drove me insane how each of the characters were absolute jerks! Especially Lucy and John. Yeah yeah, I'll probably get the whole "but they redeemed themselves at the end". Well, it was a little too late for me. 50 chapters, and I had to wait till chapter 46 for me to feel the least bit of sympathy and understanding for either of them?

It depends who the someone is as I like to gift books a lot. At Christmas, everyone I know gets a book, which is as much a challenge as it is a joy. I tend to gift upbeat books which is a safer bet. I gift a lot of mums Why Mummy Swears by Gill Sims which is hilarious. It’s so fun and it lets you laugh at yourself. I would also give Bridget Jones’s Diary to people – it’s such a crowd-pleaser. What was the last book that made you cry?

I've just finished reading this book, and I struggled to finish it. It took me a while, and I literally needed breaks in-between chapters because of how frustrated I would get with the characters. I wanted to become a writer when I was a little girl. I used to visit our local library with my mother and sister on the way home from school. We were allowed to choose three books each and I would read them in a day and return them the following afternoon. A librarian said to me, “Goodness, you read so much, would you like to be an author one day?” – that planted the seed. When I was a bit older, I went on to discover authors like Jane Austen and made my way through the romantic classics. Emma was one of my favourites, as Austen’s heroin is such a complex, flawed character – she has a devoted father, she’s going to inherit, she’s very beautiful, but she’s also very meddlesome. I loved the idea of a flawed heroin and thought there was some fun in that. The term the grass is not always greener is a hard lesson for Connie, she was a bit of a wild child until she met Luke. They fell in love, got married, have a wonderful home and life is going well, even some of her friends are aiming for the same.
