This is also built in a way you can just use some blue-tac on the foot and take the Champion off the Ork; that way, you can paint them separately. The skin was looking nice and vibrant at this point but it needed a few more details to really make it pop.We talked to sculptor Maxime Corbeil – who also designed last year’s awesome Emperor’s Champion – on the model’s journey from concept to reality. Sometimes it’s straightforward, like with the Black Templar Castellan or Eisenhorn, modifying proportions and rendering the details to a paintable size, and sometimes you’ll adapt to a modern armour design, as with Helbrecht.

This action figure is an essential item for fans of the Warhammer 40K universe and for collectors of action figures. He’ll see what it takes to get it ready for the tabletop, show the model size, and tell you the GOTCHAS to be aware of when building them! It was at this point that I realised I could use the same colour for each of the highlights: Yriel Yellow. Baynard's revenge depicts an Emperor's Champion laying low an Ork nob, bringing his hefty blade to bear on his bested foe. They’re among the oldest and most precious relics of the chapter, and I wanted to imply that some were made by the same artificer, maybe even around the same time. Its Machine Spirit is so wilful that the tank has been known to drive itself across battlefields long after its Space Marines have perished, firing batteries of lascannons into enemy vehicles. Having had a blast painting up a Black Templar previously, to the point that I am seriously considering starting a Black Templars Primaris army. This stunning miniature encapsulates the history of Warhammer 40,000, featuring two of the game’s best-loved factions having an everyday 41st Millennium disagreement – a perfect memento from this week’s 35th anniversary celebrations. It is our mission to bring you the latest from the miniature wargaming scene, from narrative missions, hobby how-to tutorials, battle reports, unboxings and reviews, retro flashbacks, news, rumors, and more. Whilst the rock formation took up most of the base I managed to find some space to stick some skulls down.

I’m also painting some Horus Heresy minis in Emperor’s Children colors just for fun although I might use them in Kill Team. To help tie things together, I used the same approach to highlight the leather, mixing the base colour Skrag Brown with Yriel Yellow and using it to add tiny scratches along the edge of the leather straps.

Don’t miss our unboxing and build of the Warhammer Day 40k Black Templars Bayard’s Revenge Emperor’s Champion limited edition miniature! We mainly cover Warhammer 40k, Fantasy, Age of Sigmar, Warmachine, Hordes, X-Wing, Infinity, Horus Heresy, and Star Wars Armada. We had to make sure it worked from every angle, so I’m glad I designed the Armour of Faith to allow more freedom of movement. Taken right from the story, this mini is a perfect re-creation of Emperor’s Champion Bayard in the midst of combat.

Although random chance is not the Lumineth way – they prefer nice, neat numbers and predictable outcomes – they’ll be left at the mercy of your opponent without a way to roll for combat. However, as this is on a 50mm and the Champion is on a 40mm, there may be some “official play issues,” but most people won’t really care. This multipart plastic kit allows you to build a Commemorative Series model capturing the Emperor's Champion, Bayard of the Black Templars, as he buries his Black Sword in the chest of an Ork Nob.

Regardless of my reasoning, I started by giving the model an even coat of Army Painter Air Raven Black. As the lips, nose and ears tend to be areas where the blood flows quite close to the surface (in humans at any rate), I figured these might benefit from a slightly warmer skin tone. A mystical Scinari Cathallar leads a force of five Vanari Bladelords, 10 Vanari Auralan Wardens, and 10 Vanari Auralan Sentinels, providing the perfect base for a powerful and versatile army.
