Description

As he’s rushed to hospital, Detective Inspector Jack Frost and the Denton police force start their hunt for the would-be murderer. Opening Sentence: In the middle of the bombed-out room flickered a small fire, and near it sat Frost. As Frost and his team dig deeper, everything seems to lead back to Ivan Fielding’s murky lifetime of misdeeds. Then again, I haven’t read as many books as I would like, and this is one of the first zombie type books that I have decided to read. When I was reading high-rated reviews on this book, just to see how this could possibly be rated so high - people were describing it as "if you like ACOTAR", or "The Bachelor meets The Hunger Games".

Although Ava did get some help from Torin throughout the tasks, I didn’t feel like it took away from her own badassery. The idea of a world with both robots and zombies (rather, 'eaters', which are different from zombies because they can talk and still somewhat control themselves and their "dietary cravings" and even appear normal) intrigued me. All, that is, apart from DC Sue Clarke, who has been summoned to the discovery of a human foot in a farmer’s field.I did not care about him all too much to be honest especially when he causally talks about how they used to kidnap children to be fostered in Fae land !

As I’ve said multiple times, I don’t really like journey stories, and for the first 100 or so pages, I really wasn’t into this one at all.He has real feelings and thoughts and he acts like a real boy, if that makes any sense whatsoever, in a YA world where the love interests seem to be limited to their archetypes. I wouldn’t go and put him on my list of Book Boyfriends or anything, but it was nice to see a character who was broody and had a dark past not be this suave bad boy, but someone who appreciates a girl who has hope.

Torin – is the typical broody love interest but it’s the tension between the pair of them that really invested me in their relationship. It laid in some odd state in between, each side distrusting of the other as they tried to navigate their way through. She understands why her father, who has been the only human being that she has met told her to stay inside the apartment. DI Jack Frost, officially on duty, is nevertheless determined to sneak off to a colleague’s leaving party. Suddenly orphaned and alone, Rosie Frost is sent to the mysterious Bloodstone Island—home not only to a school for extraordinary teens, but also a sanctuary for endangered species.

A single, robotic hand holding a rose that appeared to be melting from a metallic form into a true state all set against a grey background. DS Jack Frost is working under his mentor and inspiration DI Bert Williams, and coping badly with his increasingly strained marriage. I have so many “favorite” characters in all of the series that picking just one would be impossible. Also mix in her mystery backstory, and his dark secret that has him determined not to fall in love with his wife. And with a slew of other crimes hitting the area, from counterfeit goods to a violent drugs gangs swamping Denton with cheap heroin, the stakes have never been higher. This contemporary, girl-power story has light paranormal and fantastical elements and is fueled by a captivating mystery and adventure. Frost is reeling under the strain, his paperwork is still in arrears and now, more than ever, his self-righteous colleagues would love to see him sacked. But when Torin offers to pay Ava Fifty million dollars to join the tournament all she has to do is win and sit on the throne as the queen for a few months and make it look like they love each other.
