About this deal

Though I am not a techie or a perfectionist or even someone that can buy expensive, I am only able to give an honest opinion to something that I can afford.

Subtitle and audio description information spoken on the electronic programme guide more info panel The interface is separated into several sections, but apps is where the action is. The app selection is focused rather than bountiful; Netflix has pride of place on the top row and all the UK catch-up apps are covered (as Freeview Play), with Disney+ and Britbox available also. There’s VIDAA Free, which rounds up a selection of free content from the likes of Plex, Vevo, YouTube and Facebook Watch for more options. After two weeks of searching the Internet and trolling the electrical stores, I settled on either the 55 inch U8G or a refurbished LG/Samsung one Oled and the other Qled. Hisense is known for making low-cost TVs, but a low price doesn’t always mean a good value. With its powerful brightness and overall very good picture quality, strong feature set including wide-ranging support for next-gen gaming consoles, and affordable price, the U8H counts as an excellent overall value. Otherwise, it has features you don't normally find on TVs at this price range. It has VRR support, although over the narrow 48-60Hz range. It doesn't support HDR10+ like the more expensive models, but it does have Dolby Vision, which is more widespread. It doesn't support advanced DTS audio formats, but it does support DTS 5.1 over ARC. It has good response time and superbly low input lag, so it's a decent gaming TV overall. Ultimately, this is the best cheap TV on the market, and it's almost as good as the more expensive U6K.So with soundbar connected and 4K video from YouTube I get the wife sitting nearenough central, I get a cynical comment of YES I agree, it is stunning but how much did it cost. Hisense TVs sit on store shelves beside models from some of the most established and admired TV manufacturers. It makes OLED, QLED and LCD TVs, so all bases are covered, and they are some of the cheapest money can buy.

Hisense could also be spending less on R&D and tuning its TVs. It's not like all these brands put a few components in a thin plastic case and ship them all over the world. Each TV goes through tuning and quality control to make sure the picture and sound look as a good as possible. This is expensive and time-consuming, but how expensive and time-consuming really depends. Hisense could keep costs down by spending less time on this important step. These are launch prices, too. As the months roll on, the prices drop as they do with TVs from all brands. So as the costs fall on LG and Samsung sets, they do with Hisense's, too. We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for four months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. Atmos is designed to send sound over your head, or at least simulate it. Since most TVs don't have speakers pointed upwards this effect tends to be negligible. As a big-screen fitting for sports and movies, it also starts at a slightly cheaper asking price than the U7QF model it replaces. But does the more affordable price suggest the A7G is a downgrade on what came before? DesignThe TV’s side-mounted inputs include four HDMI ports (two HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K at 144Hz and one with eARC). There are also optical digital audio and wired headphone outputs and a powered USB port. An RF input lets you connect an antenna, and the set’s built-in digital TV tuner has support for next-gen ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. With the latest firmware update M1103, G-SYNC Compatible mode is now working properly. Hisense has also added a new HDMI Input Optimization setting, which allows for proper 4k @ 120Hz 4:4:4 from a PC, so we've updated the list of supported resolutions. We've also updated our pre-calibration settings to match the new setting names used by Hisense. We bought and tested the TCL 6 Series/R655 2022 QLED, and added a few relevant comparisons to this review. One possible reason could be that Hisense is simply taking a bigger hit on its profits. Its TVs could cost the roughly the same to manufacture as everyone else's but its mark-up is smaller. Hisense is an enormous company that makes more than just TVs. It may be happy to turn a bigger profit in its other product areas while it makes a name for itself in TVs. The U8K comes with a compact, basic remote control.
