About this deal

Ultrawide monitorshave an aspect ratio of either 21:9 or 32:9, providing more horizontal screen space than traditional monitors. These are great if you like opening multiple windows simultaneously. While many ultrawide monitors are designed with gaming in mind, they also offer good office performance, meaning they're great if you need something for work and play. There are also models designed with productivity in mind, as these tend to have higher resolutions and some additional features.

If you compare it with a 34-inch display, it is the same as 3440×1440 resolution while on a 27-inch screen it would be equal to 2560×1440 which is pretty amazing when it comes to image quality. Philips' Brilliance 499P9H is a valuable addition to offices that can afford and have room for it. Its enormous curved screen makes it easy to work with multiple application windows at once, and between its high resolution and spot-on color coverage it handles photos and videos deftly. Extras like a Windows Hello-compatible webcam and a built-in KVM switch complete the picture. It's large and in charge, and at 49-inches, the Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 is our favorite curved ultrawide monitor at the moment. It has plenty of other great specs in its arsenal too, but it provides an immersive experience that trumps both its curvy rivals and flat alternatives on the market. This 38-inch monitor offers a wide range of features that cater to different types of users. It has a curved IPS panel display, which not only provides an impressive color gamut coverage but also delivers high-resolution image quality. This means that as a photographer, you'll get accurate colors right out of the box, making it a great choice for editing photos. The ergonomic stand is also a plus, as it allows for full adjustment to maintain good posture while working.

Thanks to the IPS-display, viewing angles are pretty decent. The out-of-box calibration is amazing as well. Besides the massive display, it boasts stunning UWQHD+ resolution and edgy connectivity options. It is capable of displaying 3840×1600 pixels which translates into a 110.93 PPI ratio on a 37.5-inch display.

It’s important to note that as impressive as ultrawide displays are, their resolutions aren’t always supported by modern tech. If you’re looking for a monitor to connect to your PS5 or Xbox Series X, you’re probably better off with a standard monitor because the traditional resolutions are supported on those consoles. Is an ultrawide monitor good for gaming? There are opportunities for improvement here. The bending mechanism still feels clunky, HDR10 support is also disappointing, and there are no swivel or height adjustments. However, this is a truly versatile and immersive gaming monitor that's worth considering if you want to go the ultrawide route. Visuals become sharper and acquire a greater level of detail without any scaling. While gamers will probably take the most out of this monitor, it is perfectly suited for image editing or other creative tasks. Sadly, there is no G-sync, which is disappointing considering it's a gaming monitor. Plus, the menu is a little annoying to navigate. However, this is among the best ultrawide monitors for gaming – not to mention, a lot of value for your money.Accidental Damage-Additional Information: Accidental Damage Service excludes theft, loss, and damage due to fire, flood or other acts of nature, or intentional damage. Customer may be required to return damaged unit to Dell. Limit of 1 qualified incident per contract year. This very much depends on whether the game you want to play in 21:9 supports that resolution, and not every game does. A game like Elden Ring did not support ultrawide resolutions at launch, and so those with ultrawide monitors had to either deal with letterboxing along the sides of the display to frame a 16:9 aspect, or the game would stretch a 16:9 frame into 21:9, noticeably distorting the visuals. We found that playing at 144Hz and 160Hz results in an enjoyable experience without screen tearing. Meanwhile, the DCI-P3 98% color gamut support makes it a good option for photographers and video editors. The HDR here is still a middling version, with a peak brightness of only 600 nits. Still, although it can’t compare to OLEDs in particular, the UltraGear 38GN950 does display a decent HDR image.

Some games like Final Fantasy XIV do support 21:9 aspect, however, and when this is the case a game world can feel even more expansive and immersive as a result. Is an ultrawide monitor worth it? It's true that away from gaming, the best ultrawide monitors can be brilliant for work - from everyday office-based work tasks to professional content creation and design. One ultrawide can often do the job of two separate monitors too, which makes them appealing from a tidiness perspective, then throw in the enormous screen real estate you can get, genuinely good screen specifications, and you're away. For gamers, short response time means that they will be able to enjoy a smoother gaming experience, especially if it comes with a high-quality monitor stand. This is truly important when it comes to graphics-intensive games. Best Monitor Size for 1080p Gaming Many ultrawide gaming monitors are available as well. Not every gamer or game will benefit from an ultrawide panel, but they're particularly suited for racing games, flight simulators, and other genres that give players a panoramic vista or reward gamers by letting them see areas in their peripheral vision. The OLED G9 is far from perfect, and its price means many of you probably won't even consider this display. However, it does rise to the OLED challenge presented by LG, and we're thoroughly impressed by the screens HDR performance and outrageous contrast.Arguably, it could be the last screen you have to buy for a while too, but only if you're looking to invest a substantial amount of money in your setup. The best part is, you don't need to go for a hulking great mass if you don't want to - there's an increasing number of 'smaller' ultrawide monitors inhabiting the 34- and 35-inch spaces which make for perfect entry points into the best ultrawide gaming monitor market. These also tend to demand lower price tags too. However, immersion does increase as you go upwards in size through the 38-inch panels and all the way to the monstrous 49-inch screens from the likes of Samsung. In the professional-content-creator arena, graphic artists and photographers can benefit from extra screen width. They can open and work with two or more images (or several versions of the same photo or illustration) side by side. Ultrawides often let photo or video editors look at their source material in full resolution, while allowing enough screen space alongside it for palettes, toolbars, or timelines to coexist without requiring resizing or shuffling. Restructured article to reflect how people are looking for ultrawide monitors; removed the 'Best Gaming' and 'Best Super Ultrawide' categories because it doesn't fit into the scope of the article; added the Dell S3422DWG and replaced the Gigabyte M34WQ with the HP OMEN 34c because the Gigabyte is becoming hard to find; updated Notable Mentions based on changes. A lot of games are introducing support for ultrawide resolutions, too, so you can definitely improve your gameplay experience with an ultrawide in some cases. Not all games support ultrawide yet though, so you're likely better off with one of the best gaming monitors using the standard 16:9 screen ratio if you're more interested in your monitor's gaming performance. Is there an ultrawide monitor larger than 34-inches? Those 49-inchers are colossal though so if you want a bit of desk space then these might be too large. I really value the extra size a 38-inch gives over a 34-inch even though it isn't too much in reality - the ultrawide resolution usually does the business and the talking in either, or any, size. Most ultrawide displays have a 34-inch screen size, but there are larger ones up to 49 inches, which are known as super ultrawide monitors. On top of that, these displaystend to have curved screens to bring the edges closer toyou. When looking for an ultrawide monitor, it's important to consider what you need it for and your budget, as there are options available at different price points. Estimated valueis Dell’s estimate of product value based on industry data, including the prices at which third-party retailers have offered or valued the same or comparable products, in its most recent survey of major online and/or off-line retailers. Third-party retailer data may not be based on actual sales.Generally, the sweet spot is the 34- or 35-inch mark as these can have really great, aggressive price points. Once you go up to 38 and above, there is a significant and steep price rise generally. Generally, ultrawide business displays have an abundance of ports: at least one HDMI and one DisplayPort input, both upstream and downstream USB ports, and USB Type-C ports are typical. With many newer ultrawide business monitors, the USB-C port can transfer data as well as the video signal (the latter using the DisplayPort over USB protocol), while simultaneously powering or charging the laptop from which it's displaying the image (if applicable). (Credit: Zlata Ivleva) It’s a solid improvement in IPS panel technology. I’ve never had an HDR screen so I’ll have to wait and see if I like this. even if it’s only HDR600 witch really seems to be the only real let down of this screen with pretty much every reviewer saying 1000HDR is when it starts to get good it makes me wonder why dell ddt push to make this premium display to have the last thing it needed to be perfect and left it with mediocre HDR . But for all I know 600HDR will blow me away when I first try it
