Apply it to the top 2 inches of soil as a drench every 5 days until the adults are not flying around anymore. They're fine little bugs -- annoying, but completely harmless -- and I'm trying to be less of a speciesist about bugs. I introduced a few new plants and the gnats must have hitched a ride because soon I had an infestation and it was getting progressively worse.

In situations where all life forms (eggs, larvae, pupae and adults) are present, such as with existing infestations, make three (3) weekly applications at the suggested range rate for heavy infestations. insecticide that contains the naturally occurring bacterium Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis. The infestation for that had gotten so bad that I enclosed it into two sandwich bag, partially to serve as a greenhouse, but partially because there were so many gnats coming out of this plant it was clear that the roots were thoroughly infested.
