About this deal

There are a few trigger warnings in this book for: emotional and physical abuse, sexual assault, drugs, attempted/r*pe, a hint of pedophilia, self-harm, suicide. It is said that when Lucian was younger he was incarcerated in a psychiatric ward and scars mar half his face. The very scars that earned him the devil moniker. Master of Salt & Bones is dark romance steeped in a plot with scheming and shadowy characters that operate without limits. This book would appeal to those seeking a tormented anti-hero in a mysterious setting.

Isadora Quinn is unique heroine, brave, straightforward, musical prodigy who is a daughter of junkie mother, abandoned to be raised by her auntie when she was only ten, shunned by the village people who are constantly gossiping and verbally abusing her about the traumatizing incident she’s been involved at a high school party.

Lucian was raised in that castle of horrors, living alongside his demented father and psychopath of a mother, his life was doomed to the chaos and misery he was destined to share. Not even the son was immune to the tortures that lay within. There was, however, more than a shred humanity beneath his stone-cold exterior. Although he kept it well guarded, other than when he hired someone to take care of his mother, it lay bubbling beneath the surface, waiting to be set free. Magical, all encompassing, enthralling, with a dark undercurrent and a romance that's literally to die for, this book was everything!

The Narrators have done an amazing job, really took me on an emotional journey, feeling all their pain. Maybe that’s the reason they call him the devil. Because the madness that breathes within these walls is as real as the man who feeds it.” It was my mother who first told me that there was no such thing as fairy tales with happy endings. That's because she spent her whole life waiting for the white knight to come and rescue her from the life she so desperately tried to escape.❞ Isadora Quinn was a music virtuoso, raised by her aunt after having been abandoned by her drug-addicted mother - her father wasn't in the picture, and Isa didn't know who he was. There was a mystery surrounding her father's identity. While life was better with her aunt, it still wasn't great. The two barely scraped by most days. Isa may have been musically gifted, but she was too poor to leave the lazy seaside town in which she grew up to pursue a career in music. So when a job became available working at the town's only castle, Isa saw it as a way out, even though the town's rumors warned against it. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was.

I finished this book almost a week ago, and I've been constantly thinking about it ever since; if that's not the telltale sign of a personal 5 star read, then I don't know what is. Each time I bring myself to type of my feelings surrounding the gothic, yet contemporary atmosphere, the haunted, tragic characters, and the dark and disturbing plot of Master of Salt & Bones, I can't quite find the words to do it justice. This book is most definitely not for everyone, WARNING very strong topics of abusive of every kind and could be triggering for some. Very graphic, I had to skim some parts. So go in with caution. There was a romantic subplot in there but it was sooo under-developed that I just couldn't feel anything between the characters. ffs the first time they say they love each other is in the epilogue They had no reason for being together, besides the fact that they found the other attractive. I just felt annoyed while reading their scenes together, not that there were many of them. Gothic in its narrative, Master of Salt & Bones is a love story grown in the dark. Lucian is plagued by ghosts from the past, but it’s the future he wants with Isadora that compels him to eradicate her. Yessssssssssss!! This is the dangerous combination I truly adore: a gothic mansion made of bones, dark, intense, erotic, horrific, psychological, soul crushing story: Beauty and the beast meets Phantom of the Opera and Jane Eyre!
