About this deal

I understand that they form a part of the entire arc, but they simply don't work in tandem with the rest. Pero los primeros números regulares escritos por Waid son muy buenos y es un atisbo de lo que se viene.

Mark Waid, from a lengthy 'Open Letter to Young Freelancers' that's a must-read not only for comics creators — of any age, and at any stage in their careers — but also for freelancers in other fields, to say nothing of editors, publishers and consumers. The last story is a team up with Kyle Rayner aka Green Lantern and their Golden Age counterparts Jay Garrick and Alan Scott. The other four titles have all well surpassed that landmark, with Action and Detective well into their 1000s and Batman set to celebrate its 900th issue in May. Waid also launched with artist Javier Garrón a Ant-Man and the Wasp miniseries to tie into the release of the 2019 film of the same name. The arc also ends with a revelation that his aunt Iris, who was previously thought dead, as actually alive. There were parts that were a little confusing--probably because I haven't read EVERYTHING that precedes these stories, and also probably because I used the hoopla app and read this on my phone, rather than having the physical book (and therein the full pages) in my hands to reference--but these stories were all what you expect from comic books: solid action, fun characters, and the best what-if scenarios that anyone could imagine. We also see more of Jay Garrick and the beginning of the Flash Family that would soon grow in the upcoming months.

It is clear that Wally and Linda Park are the focus of the story, but one bump in the road really annoyed me. He's standing in front of a similar cabinet, hearing from the Flash how his accident happened, and bam, same thing! Not only does this arc have Wally facing off against a villain it also puts a strain on his relationship with Linda.

After some discussion with editor Tom Brevoort, Waid found a way to make the requested changes, but by then, the decision had been made to fire Waid and Wieringo from the series. He didn’t give him a huge presence like a Batman, but he’s still very toned and muscular and it works so well. He gathers together speedsters young and old: Impulse, The Golden Age Flash, Johnny Quick, Max Mercury, and Jesse Quick.

In 2003 Waid wrote the origin of the "modern" Superman with Superman: Birthright, a twelve-part limited series which was meant to be the new official origin story of the Man of Steel. The two specials that open the collection don't work as a great introduction to Waid's run on The Flash. As the title implies, it stars Impulse and not the Flash, and it's more aimed at younger readers, but it's still pretty fun especially if you're looking for a character who's a bit immature. And racing to Keystone City straight from the future, it’s Impulse, the latest member of The Flash’s super-speed family! The events of World's Finest would later set up the events of Batman vs Robin and " Lazarus Planet", also written by Waid. The first is a three-issue DC Black Label miniseries entitled Superman: The Last Days of Lex Luthor, illustrated by Bryan Hitch.
