Although there are some complaints about the safety buckles, it seems like a useful feature, considering that the only downside is discomfort when taking it off and perhaps the extra minute (or less) it takes. A true Goldilocks carrier - firm enough on the waistband to feel supportive for hours, while still being soft and light on the shoulders and not feeling at all bulky. Those who prefer a more simplistic soft structure carrier may like the Beco Gemini; however, other baby carriers in the lineup offer better performance and for less money. With Beco, you’ll get a wide range of comfortable carry option to use whenever you see fit, without the back pain.

This cool version has 3D breathable mesh panel and lining, much lighter than the standard Gemini – perfect for summer months, holidays, and wearing around centrally heated homes. Adjustments need to happen before you put your baby in the carry, so if you get it wrong, you'll likely need to start over. The manual is okay but has a lot of pictures that interestingly take away from understanding how to use it.

In the inward-facing frontal position, you can simply adjust a couple of snaps to make sure it’s safe for those tiny legs. I ended up with way too many items: an Ergo carrier hand-me-down that was gifted to me, a sling and a wrap.

The Beco 8 by contrast is bigger, the panel is bigger so it will last longer and it has more fe Still pregnant, I imagined the perfect mother-son scenario: my little Alessandro blissfully napping in the carrier while I went happily about my errands. And many parents find themselves carrying less around then anyway or are very happy to move onto a toddler carrier that stage. Also, the Beco has limited adjustability, making it hard to find a good fit, and the design is tight, with limited room for the baby. Some testers also feel it has a more restrictive feel than other soft structured carriers, and the feeling increased as the size of the passengers did.

Although like any carrier at all it has to fit your body, and so it's really worth trying on before you invest. It is worth noting that compared to other similar carriers - like the Ergobaby Omni Breeze, Tula Explore and the Lillebaby Complete - the Gemini doesn't last as long. When they get a little bigger they can be carried in facing in legs out position with narrower base. It's still worth knowing though, particularly if your purchasing a second hand carrier rather than a new one because its worth checking which buckles and if you can undo them easily! The two-handed safety for the waist strap is a nuisance — you really need one hand for baby and one hand for the buckle! Putting it on is okay, but there are easier soft structured carriers to put on, adjust and put a baby into, like the BabyBjorn One. This makes is simple to use right out of the box, it fits all sizes of parents, and takes all the guess work out of carrying your baby.

First things first: this Beco carrier is quite the hit online, with great reviews on your major online retailers as well as other review sites. The carrier material is completely baby safe (the cotton shell) and comes in whole lot of different designs which is nice (we got the ‘Arrow’). You can use it from 7lbs to 35lbs (the weight of an average 3½-year-old), so it’s good value for money. When your baby is ready to face out (older than 4 months, while awake, and for short periods of time), the headrest on the Beco Gemini Cool Baby Carrier also serves as a padded spot baby's head or chin to rest against. Which makes this an incredibly flexible carrier that will grow with your child and adapt to their needs whatever they maybe.I noticed that with the Beco Gemini, it was easier for Alessandro’s legs to sit and splay out, whereas the Ergo was more conducive to his legs staying inside, especially when he was tiny. I bought this carrier for my son when he was around 4mths old and I used it almost daily just around the house and he always seemed comfortable.
