What is special about Donald's behavior as a winner, and how does it challenge the idea that winning is best? He always read books that were obsessed with suicide, with disease and death, I thought while standing in the inn, books that described human misery, the hopeless, meaningless, senseless world in which everything is always devastating and deadly. This compelling character study may inspire readers to reevaluate how they judge their fellow students and whether winning matters more than caring does.
