Long-range remote control: control your camera from distances of up to 600ft (180M) in optimal conditions.

When you rely on remote controlling your GoPro with a mobile app you have the benefit of seeing the shot and can reframe if needed and you can also change ALL settings in the mobile app. But you are also very limited as your phone is big, the touch screen is not easy to work in some conditions and you can use it in dirty or wet conditions. Press the [Info/Wireless Button] until [ADD NEW] appears, select this option with the [Shutter Button]. It consists mostly of a single large button (there’s actually second small button on the side that works as a power/pairing button). It’s waterproof (but doesn’t work actually underwater), rated down to 16 feet or 5 meters. In optimum conditions, GoPro claims it has a range of up to 33 feet (10 meters) away. The range is much shorter than the Smart Remote because the Remo connects only via Bluetooth, which has a much shorter effective range than wifi. And it recharges via USB, with a USB-C connector.The design closely resembles the first-generation GoPro Wi-Fi remote. It doesn’t feature a settings button like the second-generation GoPro smart remote (above), but it has all the other features including an LCD screen that displays key information. Usability. Wearing gloves? Hands on handlebars? Using the smartphone app is next to impossible and you’re much better off with the smart remote. If they fail to connect, make sure that the camera’s wireless connection is enabled. Find this under Preferences > Connections > Wireless Connections. It’s worth noting that leaving the wireless feature enabled will contribute to some power drain of your camera’s battery. In Use The GoPro Remo is proof that not every official accessory is great. It’s essentially a wearable wireless mic that lets you use GoPro voice commands to remotely control your GoPro. In terms of features, there is some overlap between the Wifi Remote and the Smart Remote. They’re both waterproof (the Wifi Remote is less waterproof, rated down to 10 feet (3 meters)), can control up to 50 cameras at once, can be used to change settings, and look very similar. But the Smart Remote has a much longer range, much better battery life, and is, in my experience, a much more reliable way to control your GoPros. But it’s important to know that the wireless signal doesn’t work through water, so while you can get the remote and camera wet and they work in rainy or splashy conditions above water, you won’t be able to use the remote underwater to control the camera. If you need to do that, there are workarounds that involve running a cable to the camera, but they require some setup–I have more on them below. Press the [Mode Button] repeatedly, until [CONNECT] is highlighted, then press the [Shutter button] to select.All of these remotes have built-in rechargeable batteries that aren’t removable. So you need to connect the remote directly to a power source to charge it. Not an awful lot has changed since its predecessor, the GoPro Smart Remote, but it comes in a smaller size and arguably has more well-thought-out button placement. Because the only button on the face is the massive shutter/record button, the risk of accidentally pressing another function is eliminated. Press the [Info/Wireless Button] on the left side of the camera with the lens facing you. You’ll see a blue LED blink every couple of seconds to show that you camera’s Wi-Fi is turned on. GoPro claims that its range is up to 196 feet (60 meters) in optimal conditions. Many of us don’t shoot in optimal wireless conditions, so we can expect the real-world range to be somewhat less than that.
