it also has an AA filter which reduces resolution and a notch of DR/ISO. The shutter is also not as quiet as the Panasonic.

Colours directly from the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 in JPEG images are warm and nicely saturated. They require little to no adjustment, which is excellent news for an entry-level offering. Furthermore, the DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology *1 calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels while consulting the data for the optical characteristics of the current lens in a moment. As a result, the LUMIX GX880 achieves an ultra-high-speed AF of approx.0.07 sec *2. A multi-processing capability achieves high speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps (AFS) / 5 fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus. In fact, other than the smattering of improvements that have been made to the camera's already impressive range of selfie modes, designed principally for the Asian market, there's very little to reason to consider the Panasonic GX880 instead of the GX800, unless the pricing is the same or very similar.

The surprise is the selfie mode of GX850, as well as its Face detection, keeps on amusing me. Not sure why but after using this camera for a few months, I still think its Face Detection is more accurate and responsive than its bigger brothers... 🙂. Photo Style is a function that lets you set the picture quality, such as contrast or saturation, as you like before shooting. After choosing the mode you like from a total of seven modes (Standard, Vivid, Natural, Monochrome, L.Monochrome and Scenery), you can fine tune for the desired effect.

You'll also need to buy a MicroSD memory card and a case or bag to keep your camera safe and protected - have a look at our complete guide to camera bags. The Panasonic Lumix GX880, like the GX800, is a compact and lightweight mirrorless camera, particularly with the 12-32mm lens. The camera offers a 16mp sensor, 4K video recording, and 4K Photo. The tilting touch-screen will be useful for selfies, and vloggers, and the built-in Wi-Fi makes it easy to transfer photos and remotely control the camera. Thanks to the Micro Four Thirds lens mount, the camera is compatible with a huge range of lenses.

The camera uses an electronic shutter over 1/500s, which is worth noting when shooting in artificial light. The shutter is very quiet. The screen is very clear and has good viewing angles, with additional controls that can be found on the screen.

On IQ, it is very close to its elder brothers: GX85 and G85 except on SOOC JPG GX850 might has a stop disadvantage than GX85/G85 (1600 vs 3200). For the rest of the review I’m going to highlight and demonstrate a selection of the camera’s features in more detail.

It was a couple of days now I read the review of this Panasonic camera. As in the case of Olympus Pen cameras I had the opinion that they reminded me of a very cool item of the bitnik era. The Ronson Varaflame lighter! Panasonic's core customer for this camera is the casual user seeking a carry-everywhere-cam for documenting friends or family. This user is someone who prefers a selfie-screen to an EVF and favors ease-of-use and compactness. ..." I understand your reasons and they are as valid as anybody else reasons. But not all have the same criteria ;) Tastes and color... More than 15 images (when there are RAW files with the particular speed)/More than 100 images (when there are no RAW files)/(Depending on memory card type, aspect, picture size and compression) I'm not sure trying to make their entry level model be their smallest possible body as well (with the GF7/8 and now this) was really the right play, but I don't know that any of the mirrorless players are really making a killing on entry level bodies anyway... Seems like keeping an older high end model (a la a5100/6000) in production can almost be more profitable, would've loved to have seen the GM bodies kept around like that. They were on closeout for like forever...

And why no-one has ever bought a Ricoh GR. Or an RX1. Or the Sony A5100. Or The NEX-5. Or the GM-1. Or the CM-1. Much like many of the most beloved contemporary smart devices, the GX880 features outstanding photographic effects. Two of which are the Soft Skin Effect and Slimming Effect. The Soft Skin Effect gives you the ability to fine-tune the brightness and smoothness of skin tones while the Slimming effect allows the photographer to adjust the sharpness of an image giving a slimming effect.
