Works great as a shop light when I wrenching on my car. Also works fantastic in dark attics ( HVAC Installs). I had the previous version which worked great as well, but it unfortunately broke where the light assembly rotates. However, this one seems more robust, and the hook placement is significantly better. Makita DML816 14.4V / 18V Li-ion LXT Flashlight – Batteries

The DML816 is based on the DML801 but features 7 pivot points rather than 6 and 18 LEDs rather than 12 giving it up to double the amount of light - 500 lumens of light vs 240. Light quality is soft and diffuse due to the layer of semi-transparent diffusion plastic. The light quality is quite nice, although it does not appear to be daylight balanced. I gave the Makita and Dewalt away and kept the Kobalt 24v. That was probably 4 years ago now. The Kobalt is still the best version of this light by a long margin. I think Ridgid might have just came out with a pretty comparable light, but I don't have those batteries, so I don't intend to test it out.
