Be aware not to burn candles too close to flammable items with a suggested two feet vertical clearance between the flame and material or surface. I was curious to see if it would also work for candles with bases like the one you see below on the left. I gave it a try and it worked great. It was a bit bumpier to use since that type candle has a lot of grooves/ridges around the base, but it definitely worked as seen on the candle on the right. With a candle sharpener, there is no need to trim the base of the candle with a knife, instead,use acandle sharpener to reduce the base to fit the candle to the holder. Simply size the base of your candles using the candle sharpener in the same way you would a pencil sharpener.So how does it work? See the candles on the left? Those are candles I carved down with a kitchen knife to use in the bottles for the centerpiece seen earlier in this post.

Always use a proper lighting taper or lighter as this will prevent any unwanted debris falling into the candle wax which can result in burning problems.
