This is the final installment in the Jack Caffrey crime series and, while not full of happy-ever-afters and fully explained summaries, I feel like the series drew to an acceptable close here. Fueled by whisky, e-cigarettes and indifference to authority, Caffery’s the archetypical angst-driven hero, obsessed by the pedophile ring that kidnapped his brother decades earlier. There was so much for me to work with and real substance to the character too - Jack is honest, brutally honest at times, and there’s a real root of pain that you can play off. When I got to episode five, I read this particular scene and I just instantly thought, “right, I’m in”.
