It was kind of repetitive. The pacing was also off. It took a long time for things to get interesting. The relationship with Miles felt like it appeared out of thin air. I didn’t get a spark or a connection. It didn’t work. We do know who the perpetrator is, but that also heightens the suspense as we get separate breakout chapters dealing with him and his activities specifically.

Leonidas and Trinity are wonderful for each other and while they both fight their demons daily, they learn to find the sun even in the darkest of days, and cherish the moments of sunshine. I liked the characters a lot, rooting for and relating to heroine Morgan a great deal, despite the fact I’ve never been hunted by a serial killer. She was a strong female lead and I respected the hell out of her for it.

Shortly after she finds Nina murdered in her home. The work of Luke. Nina was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This debate, and its ramifications, serve as an example of how history, with a capital ‘H’, continues to move forward. Liberal democracy is not a fixed concept, and these challenges mean it will continue to evolve in ways we cannot yet foresee. Leonidas lives off music. After all, he and his siblings didn’t become one of the most famous bands worldwide for no reason. The blinding lights and the roar of the crowded stadium fuelled him. But not anymore. Leonidas has become a shell of the person he once was. Now, he’s everything you want to stay away from—moody, tatted, and full of sarcasm. Things go sideways early on when a cold-blooded man crosses her path and creates chaos. Serial killer on the loose!! This made the book a perfect blend of fluff and suspense. a b Steiner, George (20 April 1998). "She's scared to blink in case her man turns into somebody else". The Guardian . Retrieved 17 March 2020.

Wiped out emotionally and financially Morgan goes to Vermont and her mother and grandmother. There she finds the solace she so desperately needs and a new purpose. As the Bar Manager for the upscale bar, Après, in the exclusive Resort at Westridge. Not only a new purpose but a man too. Miles Jameson, scion of the family that owns the resort and COO of it. His family has deep roots in the community, and he takes his position there seriously. The character development is spot on and I absolutely fell for Miles. I think his gruff exterior and deep feeling, mushy interior is why I couldn’t put this book down. Wolfgang Kraus - Scientific Advisory Board, Institute of Practice Research and Project Consulting (IPP), Germany Identity" is an engrossing book that seamlessly combines mystery, suspense, and a captivating romance. With its compelling plot and well-developed characters like Nina and Morgan, this novel held me in its grip from start to finish.

The love story was definitely of lesser focus than Morgan and her fight to rebuild a life for herself post-trauma, but it needed to be. Miles, the love interest, was likeable enough but I was thankful their budding relationship didn’t overshadow the seriousness of the threats still at hand. The shift towards identity politics threatens to fragment society by dividing people into zealous tribes. If people no longer vote according to their values, such as an attachment to liberty, but by their identities, such as their faith, then democracy ceases to function. The resentful citizens fearing loss of middle-class status point an accusatory finger upward to the elites, to whom they are invisible, but also downward toward the poor, whom they feel are undeserving and being unfairly favored … Economic distress is often perceived by individuals not as resource deprivation, but as a loss of identity. Hard work should confer dignity on an individual, but that dignity is not recognized—indeed it is condemned, and other people who are not willing to play by the rules are given undue advantages. This link between income and status helps to explain why nationalist or religious conservative groups have been more appealing to many people than traditional left-wing ones based on economic class. The nationalist can translate loss of relative economic position into loss of identity and status; you have always been a core member of our great nation, but foreigners, immigrants, and your own elite compatriots have been conspiring to hold you down; your country is no longer your own, and you are not respected in your own land. Conclusion

Anytime I see January LaVoy listed as the narrator, I’m more than interested. She always makes it seem like there are multiple narrators, skillfully handling a host of characters, delivering an outstanding performance on every level including great storytelling. FYI, she’s tied for the #1 spot on my list of favorite narrators. One night she meets “Luke” when working at the bar. He is charming and flirty. They go out for a couple of dates before she invites him into her home for a double date with Nina and Sam. This handbook takes a multidimensional and cross-disciplinary view of identity studies. A truly international project, this is an authoritative and accomplished handbook. It is sure to be an invaluable resource for social scientists for many years to come.’ Wow. What a fantastic romantic suspense novel by Roberts. It was such a nice slow burn and it had everything. I really loved the characters of Morgan and Miles and both of their respective families. The suspense part was well done with the book following a serial killer hell-bent on murdering women after stealing from them and taking their identities. There’s a lot happening but it works. A wonderful book to read on summer nights. The novel follows an intimate relationship between a woman Chantal and Jean-Marc, alternating perspectives with each chapter. It begins with Chantal at a hotel on the coast of Normandy awaiting the arrival the next day of her partner. When he arrives they struggle to find each other, misattributing their loved one's identity to stranger on the beach who upon closer examination bears little resemblance. Upon their meeting, Chantal is upset by her disturbing slightly sexual dream as well as the way a man looked at her in a cafe. She was where I am in my life right now, always ready for the next thing. Excited for the adventure waking up brings. And then something terrible happens. She loses so much in a moment, falls into that endless grief, only to realize it is so much worse than she could have imagined.
